Barton Peveril Sixth Form College has been selected as the United Kingdom’s first ‘Gemini AI Academy’ – providing students with access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The designation recognises the Eastleigh college’s commitment to innovation and educational excellence. The partnership between Barton Peveril, C-learning (Google for Education’s largest partner in the UK) and Google is the first of its kind.

Barton Peveril students will have the opportunity to learn about AI, use AI tools, and develop their AI skills. Rob Temple, Principal of Barton Peveril, said: “We are extremely excited to be the UK’s first Gemini AI Academy.

“The human teacher remains absolutely vital in inspiring and supporting a student, but we know AI will impact on the types of jobs that will be available to students in the future and the kind of skills students should be developing as they progress through the college.

“This agreement puts us in a uniquely strong position to utilise the technology and continue to provide the best possible educational experience for young people.”
