EXCLUSIVE: Covid-19 Vaccine Appointments Cancelled After Delivery Fails To Arrive
A new Covid-19 vaccination centre serving part of the Meon Valley which opened just last month has had to close this week after a supply of vaccines failed to arrive.
The Winchester Rural, North and East Primary Care Network, which includes GP practices in West Meon and Alresford, had set up a vaccination centre in the Holiday Inn in Telegraph Way, Winchester in December.
But today it was revealed that appointments for today, tomorrow and Thursday have been cancelled. No details of when appointments will start again have yet to be provided.
A message on West Meon Surgeries website says: “Some patients will have been given appointments for a first or second Pfizer covid vaccination on the dates above this week at The Holiday Inn, Winchester. Unfortunately, the delivery of the vaccine required was cancelled.”
It added: “We apologise for the inconvenience and frustration but this was beyond our control.”
The message also said: “You will have received or will receive, a cancellation phone call and or text from the NHS. This call/text is genuine and we will contact regarding the second vaccination appointment later in the month” but the Meon Valley Times has seen a report that at least one elderly patient did not know and arrived to find the vaccination centre closed.
