Fury Over Party Rubbish Dumped In Woods

By Tom Hussey in News on July 14, 2020

Empty beer bottles, balloons and several bags of rubbish were just some of the items discarded by a group near the West Walk car park at 100 Acre Wood near Wickham on Sunday,

Eyewitnesses report seeing a group set up a gazebo and table with balloons for a 1st birthday at around 10am on Sunday morning.

The mess they left afterwards garnered an angry response from locals. “Should be fined. Makes me angry,” said one local.

Another said: “I saw them all having a good time! It’s disgusting how they feel they are above clearing up after themselves.”

The mess was cleared up at around 7pm on Sunday evening by a ranger who visits the site each night to clean the toilets, surrounding area and lock the gate.

According to the current government coronavirus guidelines, outdoor social gatherings should be limited to a group of no more than two households or a group of up to 6 people from different households, as long as individuals keep to the social distancing rules and maintain hygienic practices.
