Meon Valley Man In Major Television Investigation Into Lockdown fly-tipping

By Times Reporter in Environment Featured News on April 30, 2020

A Meon Valley man will feature in a major television investigation into the problem of fly-tipping during lockdown.

This evening’s edition of ITV’s Tonight programme will include Martin Montague, the founder of the free fly-tipping reporting app ClearWaste.com

Fly-tipping has rocketed since tips were closed at the start of lockdown as unscrupulous traders dumped rubbish in country lanes and laybys.

“While most people are law-abiding and have been holding on to extra garden waste and unwanted DIY materials some people have not,” says Martin.

“We’ve seen a huge increase in reports of fly-tipping. Clearing up illegally dumped waste costs taxpayers millions and damages the environment. It’s disgusting.

“I’m glad ITV has decided to highlight the issue by devoting a whole programme to the subject and I was pleased to be able to help them.”

The programme will be shown at 7.30pm this evening.
