Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond Is NOT A Candidate For Tory Leader And Prime Minister
The Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond has confirmed she is NOT standing for leader of the Conservative Party.
This follows the creation of a Twitter account called “@FlickForLeader” with a pitch that reads: “I entered politics to make a real difference, not to indulge in the trappings of power.
“It is an honour, not a right, to serve this country. I am thankful to the people Meon Valley for the chance to make a difference to my community.
“Like many in this country, they want a return to the kind of sensible conservatism that can lead the Party back towards the path responsible government that has proven popular and successful time and again. I believe I am the one who can lead from the front, and heal the wounds inflicted upon this country.”
But Mrs Drummond has told the BBC that the Twitter account set up to support her is a spoof – and she doesn’t even have a Twitter account.
Mrs Drummond has yet to publicly pledge her support to any candidate in the Conservative leadership contest.
