Milk Deliveries Hit By Increase In Covid Self-Isolation Alerts

By Times Reporter in Business News on July 20, 2021

Householders across the Meon Valley say they are failing to receive their doorstep milk deliveries.

From Wickham to East Meon and from Meonstoke to West Meon, residents say deliveries from Milk & More have become erratic at best and non-existent at worst.

Supplier Milk & More admits it is struggling with some deliveries due to staff being told to self-isolate by alerts on the NHS Covid app.

In a statement, it said: “We were already experiencing negative effects of industry-wide driver shortages. Unfortunately, the spread of COVID-19 and related ‘pings’ means that our staff levels are severely impacted and we are currently struggling to get some deliveries to you.

“We sincerely apologise if this is impacting you and thank you for your continued patience in this challenging period.”

To compound the non-deliveries, the company has suspended its customer service email with customers being told to phone instead.

Milk & More, which is owned by German food giant Müller, said: “We are currently experiencing a high volume of contacts and as a result, we have decided to temporarily suspend our email contact service. We are really very sorry but emails will not be responded to at this time.”

The company has been contacted for further comment.

  • Here in Soberton, we have had no Milk & More deliveries since 9th July!
We keep getting various excuses – firstly it was the England Italy Euro final, then it was blamed on a new system that was having “teething problems” and now Covid! Just excuses a badly run company with appalling customer service! Many people here have cancelled their accounts.
