Old Winchester Hill Hit By Fly-Tippers

By Times Reporter in Crime Environment News on September 18, 2020

Old Winchester Hill has been hit by a large fly-tip.

Waste criminals have targetted the beauty spot’s car park leaving a huge pile of rubbish including household waste, DIY waste and even some sharp knives.

Martin Montague, creator of the ClearWaste.com app for reporting fly-tipping said: “Old Winchester Hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Nature Conservation Review site Grade I, a National Nature Reserve and part of it is an Iron Age hill fort and Scheduled Monument. It’s appalling that these waste criminals have chosen to target it in this way.

“I’d encourage anyone who sees fly-tipping to report it on the app as every report helps the authorities to get closer to catching these criminals – and people should also take down vehicle details if they think they may have spotted

fly-tippers looking for a site to dump waste on.”
