Son, 18, Is Accused Of Mother’s Murder

A Hambledon teenager accused of murdering his mother will go on trial in October.

Rowan Thompson, 18, can be named for the first time following the lifting of reporting restrictions at Winchester Crown Court earlier today.

Thompson is accused of murdering his mother Joanna Thompson, 50, who died as a result of neck injuries at a house in Hambledon on July 1st last year.

Thompson, who has been detained under the Mental Health Act, did not attend the hearing.

Judge Susan Evans QC adjourned the case for a further hearing on August 21st. The trial is expected to begin on October 2nd.
