Swanmore College staff mark World Book Day in style

Swanmore College staff dressed in costumes

Swanmore College staff celebrated World Book Day yesterday with pupils.

There were T-shirts depicting favourite books, a quiz to guess which member of staff was hiding behind their favourite book, amazing costumes and decorations.

The English department dressed up as the characters from George Orwell’s Animal Farm.

Humanities transformed the S-block corridors with all things Harry Potter, and lessons were taught by various characters, including Hagrid, Professor Snape, Dolores Umbridge, Viktor Krum, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Dobby.

World Book Day is a charity event held annually in the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1998. On World Book Day, every child in full-time education in the UK and the Republic of Ireland is provided with a voucher to be put towards the cost of a new book.
