A thatched cottage in Langrish has been devastated after a fire ripped through it last night.

Firefighters from all over Hampshire battled the blaze overnight.

More than 70 firefighters from 13 fire stations including Droxford, Winchester and Basingstoke tackled the fire.

Temporary traffic lights have been put in place on the A272/Winchester Road to allow space for emergency vehicles.

Hampshire County Council said: “Hampshire Highways will be putting up two-way temporary traffic lights on the A272 Winchester Road in Langrish, near Petersfield to assist Hampshire Fire and Rescue in dealing with a thatch fire. The traffic lights will be put up during this morning and will remain until no longer needed.”
