Trial Set To Start Following £6.6 million Cocaine Seizure In Newtown, near Soberton
A drug supply and possession of firearms trial is due to begin at Portsmouth Crown Court tomorrow.
The case relates to the largest cocaine seizure seen by Hampshire Constabulary, with a street value of £6.6million, on October 2nd 2019 at Clamp Farm, Newtown.
Three people will be on trial:
James Dean Bakes, 41, of Aldermore Road in Waterlooville, has been summonsed for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
Lee Matthews, 37, of Field Way in Denmead, was charged with conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition without a firearms certificate.
Jason Jay Stanley, 20, of Passingham Walk in Waterlooville, has been charged with conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs, and possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition without a firearms certificate.
A fourth man, Robert David Hey, 41, of Upper Arundel Street in Portsmouth, was also charged with being concerned in the supply of class A, and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
He plead guilty to these offences and is due to be sentenced alongside the others, but will not stand trial.
Jason Stanley and Lee Matthews will stand trial for the firearms offences, and are also due to be sentenced for the drugs supply offences along with Robert Hey after entering guilty pleas for those.
James Bakes will stand trial for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs alongside the firearms trial.
