Two vehicles stolen, one destroyed by fire in East Meon overnight

East Meon vehicle thefts

An all-terrain vehicle was stolen and then destroyed by fire and a transit van was stolen in two incidents in East Meon last night.

The Polaris ATV was discovered burnt out on the East Meon cricket pitch this morning and a gate had been destoyed.

The transit van was taken from outside a home in Clanfield Road, East Meon. The contents, which included hog roast catering equipment, were later found dumped on the road from East Meon to West Meon.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “Just before 4.40am today, we received reports that a van had been stolen overnight from an address at Springhole Cottages in Petersfield. An investigation is underway.

“At around 5am this morning, we received reports of a burnt-out car on the East Meon recreational ground. An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances.”
